There will be things in your life that make no sense to you. They may tempt you to despair. You might feel like throwing up your hands and saying, “It’s absurd. What’s the point? I give up.”
Faith lives with unanswered questions. Grasp this and it will help you make sense of life. Here are seven secrets that belong to the Lord.
1. The future of your children.
What will happen to your children? Will they marry? Will they be happy? Will they prosper? This was surely in the minds of those who heard Moses on the verge of the Promised Land.
2. The reason for your suffering.
All of us at some time will ask the question, “Why?” For some it is a painful question. Why was I born into this family? Why did this illness come to me? Why did that awful event happen to my children? You ask the question, but you don’t have the answer.
3. The manner of your death.
How long will you live? Will you reach old age or will God take you while you are young? Will you die of an illness or will it be an accident? Will you have a sound mind? Will it be painful?
4. The salvation of your loved ones.
You have unbelieving family and neighbors and friends, and you’ve been praying for them and sharing the gospel with them. They have no interest in God and no love for Christ. Will they be converted? You don’t know. But God knows.
The secret things belong to the Lord, so trust him in what you do not know.
