These are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. John 20:31
When you see and believe that Jesus is the Son of God, here is how you will respond:
Seeing His love, you will trust Him. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). The Father giving the Son, and the Son leaving the Father’s side to enter our world, is supreme proof of God’s love for you. When you know that you are loved by God, you will be able to trust Him.
Seeing His authority, you will obey Him. “A cloud overshadowed them, and a voice came out of the cloud, ‘This is my beloved Son; listen to him’” (Mark 9:7). Think about the peace and confidence that would be yours if you could truly say, “I live under the authority of the Son of God, the sovereign Lord of the universe.” You would be able to go into the world, with all of its danger and uncertainty, with confidence—which is exactly what He calls you to do.
Seeing His power, you will hope in Him. Jesus was “declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead” (Rom. 1:4). The Son of God became a man and was crucified in weakness. But He triumphed over death, He lives in the power of an endless life, and He gives that life to all who trust in Him.
Seeing His glory, you will worship Him. When the apostle John saw the glory of the exalted Christ, he fell down at His feet as though dead: “But he laid his right hand on me, saying, ‘Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore’” (Rev. 1:17-18). All who are in Christ will see and share in the glory of the Son of God forever.
What keeps you from trusting, obeying, hoping, or worshiping Him today?
