“What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul?” Matthew 16:26 (NIV)

Come into the boardroom of the soul that is being consumed by the wish list:

“I’ve been talking with Conscience,” says Memory, “and we’re concerned that more and more time in our board meetings is being taken up with this wish list.”

“That’s what we’re here for,” says Heart.

“I’m not so sure,” says Conscience.

“Heart, you were happier before there was a wish list,” said Memory. “In fact, all of us were. The truth is, we have all become slaves to this list, and now there is no room for anything else.”

If the wish list becomes your master, you will lose your soul. It will increasingly dominate your life, and it will gradually erode your love for God.

Money has the potential to take the place of God in your life, unless somewhere along the way you come to the point of saying, “We will not allow the list to be our master.”

This is one of the greatest battles of the soul. Don’t let money be your master.

Has this happened in your soul? Is there a dream list that has captured your heart and is driving your life?
