He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Isaiah 53:3
Your heart will be changed when your mind does a new calculation based on a new discovery. Here are three ways to leverage your decision making:
In your fight against temptation
Temptation gains power in your life when what it offers seems to outweigh what it will cost. Temptation has its allure. How do you build strength in your battle against it? Show your heart the treasure—peace with God, a clear conscience, the joy of worship, being filled with the Holy Spirit, experiencing the love of God, bearing fruit, and freedom from fear.
In reaching out to others
You probably have friends and loved ones you would love to win to Jesus. But they have very little interest or seem determined not to believe. You can help them most by pointing them to Jesus (the treasure) and praying God will open their eyes to see Him.
In your suffering
Jesus was a man of sorrows. If you have suffered loss or injustice, if you have been treated with disrespect, if you have been pushed to the margins and made to feel unwanted, you will find great comfort in knowing that Jesus has been there.
He was despised and rejected. People hid their faces from Him and did not esteem Him. He knows what that is like. What will help you when you face great difficulties is that Jesus knows sorrow, too. He has been there, and He will walk with you.
