He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:29-31 (NIV)
Distorted images of God are healed at the cross. At the cross, we see God in focus. This God loved you and gave Himself for you in Jesus Christ. He invites you to turn to Him:
- To believe in Him
- To worship Him
- To obey Him
- To serve Him
Bring your boredom to the cross. Can you really be bored by our awesome God who came from heaven so you could know Him up close and personal?
Bring your cynicism to the cross. Can you really write off the God who would not stand aloof from the misery and evil of this fallen world but came into it and exposed Himself to its pain and plumbed the depths of its suffering?
Bring your anger and antagonism to the cross. Can you really hate the God who loves you and gave Himself for you?
Those who hope in God will renew their strength. Fill your mind with who He is, and put your faith in Him, for those who trust in Him will never be disappointed.
Why does focusing on the cross give you the clearest picture of God? When you do this, are you surprised by anything?
