Recent research reveals significant opportunity for Open the Bible to impact lives around the world.
The challenge, however, is that while large numbers of people express an interest in the Bible, many never get around to taking the most important step—opening it.
This is why our partnership is so critical. As we look to 2023, we feel a great urgency in our work together to open the Bible for people, help them open it for themselves, and equip them to open it with others.
Sandy Carter shares her story of opening the Bible with her sisters.
Look back on a year of ministry as Executive Director, John Aiello, presents the impact your partnership with Open the Bible has had around the world.
One of the largest projects we embarked on in 2022 was changing our name from Unlocking the Bible to Open the Bible.
There were four main reasons for this important and strategic decision: a renewed sense of urgency toward the work we do, addressing the biggest barrier to people not opening the Bible, re-introducing audiences to the full breadth of what we do, and better translating what we do into the languages of the world.
There is a great need for sound, biblical training for next-generation leaders of the church.
Both vocational pastors and lay leaders have found they stay in ministry longer, and are more effective, when they have a strong biblical foundation for the way they lead God’s people. Open the Bible for Leaders is our free video-based training platform, full of practical, actionable guidance for establishing fruitful gospel ministry.
For several years, we’ve made significant radio investments during Holy Week. The focus of these investments has been the Heaven, How I Got Here book and radio drama.
The story of the thief on the cross is so powerful around the Easter season, as it embodies the essence of what Jesus did for us at Calvary. This year, we aired our radio drama on 600+ stations, reaching people in 43 of the 50 largest US cities.
Our theme verse for this year’s Celebration of Impact was Colossians 3:16: “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.”
Pastor Colin helps us understand what it means to let God’s Word dwell in us richly, and shares his approach to opening the Bible each morning.
When God’s Word finds its way into the hearts of men and women, it brings transformation, restoration, hope, and true life-change.
Executive Director, John Aiello, looks ahead to next year and the exciting projects that we at Open the Bible will be pursuing over the next 12 months.
Would you consider a year-end gift to support next year’s initiatives?
While we have aired our radio program in the UK since 2017, we are convinced there is much more we could accomplish there with a local ministry presence.
We’ll continue reaching people with our daily radio program, but also develop a UK-specific website and social media, train a local Ministry Outreach Team to pray with listeners, and host virtual and in-person events.
We are praying that 2023 can be a year of significant growth in the reach and effectiveness of our gospel-centered, online training for church leaders.
Over the next several months, we will be adding Pray the Bible and Sustaining a Lifetime of Service modules, developing a 24-session bundle of lessons called Foundations of Gospel Ministry, translating the Foundations lessons into Spanish, and begin issuing training certificates.
By year end, the key portions of Open the Bible Story will have been translated into Spanish as well as several other languages.
In 2023, we want to launch a Spanish Open the Bible website, develop targeted language radio specials, translate more of our print & electronic resources into Spanish, embark on a Spanish social media campaign, and partner with organizations that can help us distribute our Spanish content.
