All flesh shall see it together. Isaiah 40:5

A few years ago CNN ran a piece about the pink suit worn by Jackie Kennedy on the day that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. Images of the first lady in her pink suit have been seen in magazines and on television many times, but very few have seen the garment itself.

The pink suit was given to the people of the United States by Caroline Kennedy in 2003, and the gift came with a condition—that it should not be put on display for 100 years (2103). The suit is stored in the national archives building in Maryland, and according to CNN:

The archive has stored the suit in a windowless vault, in an acid free container, where the air is changed three times an hour to properly maintain the wool and cloth [and] it is kept at a temperature of 65 to 68 degrees.

We’ve seen images of the pink suit, but none of us has seen the thing itself. It is locked up in a vault, hidden from view. But 100 years from now it will be put on display for future generations.

Think about this: The glory of the Lord will be revealed. It will be put on display. Some reflections of this glory have been seen already. But what Moses longed to see will be put on display, and this glory will be displayed for everyone: “All flesh shall see it together.”

How will this happen? “The virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel” (7:14). When Jesus Christ was born into the world, John wrote: “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory…” (John 1:14).

What have you seen of God’s glory?
