They who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31
Distorted images are healed at the cross. There we see God in focus. This God loved you and gave himself for you in Jesus Christ.
In Jesus Christ you can come to know this awesome and eternal God up close and personal. He invites you to turn to him, to believe in him, to worship him, to obey him, to serve him.
Bring your boredom to the cross. Can you really be bored by the one who came from heaven to earth so you could know him up close?
Bring your cynicism to the cross. Can you really write off the God who would not stand aloof from the suffering and evil of this fallen world, but came into it and exposed himself to its pain and plumbed the depth of its suffering? Isn’t your criticism of God silenced at the cross?
Bring your anger and antagonism to the cross. Can you really hate the God who loves you and gave himself for you like this?
Those who hope in this God will renew their strength. Fill your mind with who he is. Put your trust in him.
The day is coming when this God will take his power and reign. Evil will be defeated. His people will be with him, and those who trust in him will never be disappointed.
Which one do you most need to bring to the cross today? Your boredom? Your cynicism? Or your anger and antagonism?
