[We pray this] so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 1:12

The apostle Paul prays that believers will be glorified in Christ—the implications of this are astounding! Not only will you see Jesus’ glory, you will share in His glory. Not only is Jesus’ glory revealed to us, it will be revealed in us. What does that mean?

You will have a body like Christ. That means no pain, no sickness, no disability, and no weariness—all gone. You will have a body that is suited to eternal life, the gift of God to you.

You will have a soul like Christ. You will love what Christ loves, and you will love as Christ loves. You will be free from all sin and every inclination to sin.

You will see the likeness of Christ in yourself. And you will say, “Is this really me?” C. H. Spurgeon says, “Every saint will be a wonder to him or herself: I thought my bliss would be great, but not like this! …How glorious is my Lord, who has wrought this miracle upon me.

You will see the likeness of Christ in each other. And you will say, “Is that really you?” Spurgeon comments, “You will be free from all envy there, and therefore you will rejoice in the beauty of your fellow saints… You will see the Lord in all your brethren, and this will make you praise and adore him… with a perpetual amazement and ever-growing delight.”

Are you beginning to get a sense of the wonder of this promise?
