We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, in order to make your hope sure. Hebrews 6:11 (NIV)

The gift of assurance is confident faith in Jesus Christ that is characterized by freedom and joy. It is faith that is fully grown. The Bible is clear that Christians have different degrees of faith.

Abraham was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God (Rom. 4:20). It is possible for your faith to be strengthened.

“You of little faith… why did you doubt?” (Mat. 14:31). Jesus did not say that Peter had no faith, but that his faith was small.

“I tell you the truth. I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith” (Mat. 8:10). Many in Israel had faith, but Jesus said that this man had more.

Jesus asked the disciples, “Where is your faith?” (Luke 8:25), making it clear that it is possible to have faith and not use it.

A man came to Jesus and said, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief” (Mark 9:24). Faith can be mixed with many doubts and questions.

Christians are told to “draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith” (Heb. 10:22), indicating that in faith we can come to God with great boldness and confidence.

Once you see that Christians have different degrees of faith, you will see that your faith can grow, and you will have a reason to cultivate yours.

Do you see that it is possible for you to have greater assurance and confidence in Christ, and greater joy and freedom in your Christian life?
