I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20 (NIV)
Have you faced the challenge?
God calls you to more than just believing a creed. He calls you to offer Him your life. That includes your schedule, your business, your gifts and talents, and your money. All of these belong to God and the only question is how He wants you to deploy them.
When Saul saw the glory of Jesus Christ, his first question was: “Who are you, Lord?” In other words, “What do you want me to do?” There can be no conditions on that question. If you come to that place, He will show you what He wants you to do to become the man, woman, husband, wife, parent, employee, boss, student, athlete that He wants you to be.
Have you faced the alternatives?
Have you looked honestly and long term at what it means to live a life of saying that you believe, while holding back on the call of God on your life? Have you looked long and hard at what it would mean to live a life in which you never become the person God made you to be?
Have you made a decision?
God has given a wonderful way for us to draw that line in the sand as we respond to His call to total and exclusive commitment. It is called baptism. On the day of Pentecost, Peter preached a very simple message: “God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ” (Acts 2:36). People who believed said, “What shall we do?” (2:37).
Peter’s answer was, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you” (2:38). You have to give up your old way of thinking and living, so that you can begin a new way of living in obedience to Christ (John 14:15). Then be baptized. Draw a line in the sand.
