Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the LORD will be my light. Micah 7:8 (NIV)

If you are discouraged by your own failures today, remember that Satan overplays his hand. Whatever rejoicing he had in the death of Jesus was premature.

God uses the sin that Satan provokes to our ruin as the means by which we are awakened to our need of Christ. It would be a great triumph of grace today if God were to use the sin that has weakened you and brought you into darkness to make you aware of your need of Christ and to ask for the help and power of His Holy Spirit.

If the Holy Spirit is bringing you to the place where you say, “I feel my need to be washed in the blood of Jesus. I feel the need of a strength that is greater than my own,” God is already shining the light of hope into your heart.

Look to the Christ who says, “If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” (John 8:36). “The one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world” (1 John 4:4). “I can do everything through him who gives me strength” (Phil. 4:13).

The men and women who make progress in the Christian life are the ones who know they are in a fight. They see that sin entices and that it grows. They feel their need of Christ and draw near to Him. They count on the help of the Holy Spirit. And they take action.

What would keep you from taking action today? The Lord will be with you as you wage war against the flesh and against the devil. Call, text, or write a fellow believer and ask them to pray for you as you fight.
