Daily Devotional Details

Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good. 1 Peter 2:2-3 (NIV)

1 Peter covers all the key issues of the Christian life in one book. The problem with many discipleship manuals is that they send you jumping around from Ephesians to Proverbs, with a good insight thrown in from an obscure place in 2 Samuel.

That’s a very unnatural way to study the Bible, and it is very confusing to a young Christian. It gives the impression that the teacher knows a great deal about the Bible, but leaves new Christians feeling that they could never learn by themselves because they would not know where to look.

The beauty of going straight through one book of the Bible is that you will learn how to learn from the Bible. When we are finished going through 1 Peter, you will feel that you could go to another book of the Bible and learn from it in the same way.

Follow along with this devotional using your own Bible, so that you can underline in it and mark it up. Even if you know nothing else about the Bible, over the next couple of months, not only will you learn one book of the Bible, you will have grasped the first things that you need to know about the Christian life.

Do you have a Bible that you can underline in and mark up as we consider 1 Peter together over the next couple of months? If not, would you consider getting one? Note: We will be using the NIV (New International Version).
