Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. 1 John 5:1
If everyone who believes that Jesus is “the Christ” is born of God, then what it means is vitally important. To believe that Jesus is “the Christ” means that Jesus is your prophet, your priest, and your king.
Jesus is the prophet whose word I believe. This is your position. It’s how you live your life. Jesus is the Word made flesh. He defines truth for me. I do not determine right and wrong from my own opinions. Truth is no longer defined by what I think, but by what Jesus says.
Jesus is the priest whose sacrifice I trust. When he died on the cross, Jesus became the sacrifice for my sins. I do not determine my standing before God from my own feelings, achievements, or failures. Peace with God is not accomplished by what I do, but by what Jesus has done.
Jesus is the king whose direction I obey. Jesus is the risen Lord, seated at the right hand of the Father. I belong to him. He purchased me with his blood. Life is no longer about pleasing me, but it has to be about fulfilling the purpose of the king I serve.
Jesus is the Christ! “Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God.” The Christian knows that nobody else could ever possibly do for him what Jesus has done. He knows that Jesus is the Christ, the only One.
On a scale of 1 (weak belief) to 10 (strong belief) rate your faith in Jesus in each area—as prophet, priest and king.
