No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father’s side, he has made him known. John 1:18
If no one has ever seen God, then how would it be possible for someone to make him known? Because of who Jesus is.
4. Creating. All things were made through him… (1:3)
The reason that the creation gives us some knowledge of God is that it was made by him: “His invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world” (Rom. 1:20).
5. Life-giving. In him was life… (1:4)
J. I. Packer says in his book, Knowing God: “Here is the Bible’s answer to the problem of the origin and continuance of life, in all its forms: Life is given and maintained by the Word.” People sometimes ask: What makes me alive? The question should be: Who makes me alive?
6. Incarnate. The Word became flesh and dwelt among us… (1:14)
The baby in the manger was the eternal Word of God.
7. Son of God. We have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father… (1:14)
From the beginning, he was at the Father’s side. He is the one and only Son. He has come down from God. He is God with us. And he has made the Father known.
Why do Christians worship Jesus? Because he is the eternal, personal, divine, creating, life-giving, incarnate, Son of God.
Do these biblical truths make you want to get on your knees and worship Jesus too?
