When he [Peter] saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” Matthew 14:30-31

If you go on pouring out all your worries to God in prayer, your prayer will become an exercise in worry on your knees.

The prescription for fear is to stop looking at it, and to get your eyes fixed on Christ. You need to worship. You need to bring Jesus into view. You need to fill your mind with the greatness and power and glory and beauty of your Savior until you come to the point where you can trust him in whatever you are facing.

That’s exactly what Peter did, and “immediately, Jesus reached out his hand, and caught him! You of little faith, he said, why did you doubt?” (14:30). The marvelous thing is that your final security does not depend on the strength of your faith, but on the strength of your Savior.

The waves that threatened to be over Peter’s head were under Jesus’ feet. Whatever threatens to be over your head, you can be sure that it is under his feet.

Will you take some time right now and stop looking at your fears, by getting your eyes fixed on Jesus and what he is able to do for you?
