The one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. James 1:6
Where there are weak foundations, there is often instability. There will be little evidence of joy and freedom in your life if you suffer from this condition. Here are two more shaky foundations for your faith.
3. Your Family
Maybe your parents were strong Christians. They drummed Christian teaching into you, and you accepted what they said. But then, later on, it occurred to you that you have never really thought about these things deeply for yourself. You have always believed, but you do not really know why.
4. Your Friends
You became part of the group. The group believed, and you identified with both the group and their beliefs. Then one day you went off to a secular university, and you found yourself with an entirely different group, and none of them believe. You cannot have a second-hand relationship with God. God seeks a relationship with you personally. He may use the church, a pastor, or your family and friends to reach out to you, but if your faith depends on them, it will rest on a deficient foundation, and sooner or later the cracks will appear. You cannot believe simply because someone else says so.
Have you made one (or both) of these the foundation of your faith? Are you beginning to see any cracks in your foundation?
