What is the average person drawn to? According to a recent survey from Statista, the most popular hobbies and interests in the US are—music, food, sports, reading and writing, pets, video games, travel, and health and fitness.
Isaiah is telling us why unbelief is the overwhelming response of the world to Jesus. And here in verse 2, he tells us that one reason for this unbelief is that people do not take the time to look at Him. Jesus has no form or majesty that we should look at Him.
A great deal of our time and attention is focused on entertainment. These are all good things, but if you are going to believe, you need to take the time to look at Jesus. You will not come to faith if you judge Jesus by your first impression or by your casual impressions of Him.
Why don’t people spend more time looking at Jesus? Isaiah tells us that there is nothing about Him that attracts our attention. We are drawn to many other things, but not to Jesus Christ. He had no form or majesty that we should look at Him.
If you do not believe in Jesus, then consider this an invitation to look seriously at Him. You have made room in your life for a number of hobbies and interests, but all these will pass away. Your soul will live forever, so make room for Jesus. Look at Him.
