They received the message… and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 (NIV)

Doubt that arises from deficient foundations is best helped by serious study. Approach the Bible as an investigator. Just like every good Agatha Christie novel, all the evidence you need is there. Not everything you would like to know is there, but all the evidence you need to know that Jesus is the Son of God is given to you in the Bible.

God will never allow you to reason your way to faith. Faith must involve an opening of your heart and a commitment of your will, but God has given a reasonable basis for faith.

Begin with the Gospels. Ask God to open your eyes and give you understanding. Or take a guided journey through the entire Bible like The Flight, The Drive, or The Hike (openthebible.org/story).

Whatever you don’t understand, ask someone to help, and if they don’t know, ask someone else. If you are asking university level questions, take some classes at a local Christian college. Truth fears no honest investigation.

God created you with a mind, heart, and will, and He will not bypass any of them. It is like falling in love: when you discover the right person, your mind says so, your heart says so, and your will says so. There are three green lights, and you don’t want any of them to be missing.

When you become a Christian, your mind is convinced, your heart is filled, and your will is committed. You may be the intuitive type. God got the attention of your heart before He got the attention of your mind. You had a feeling about these things before you understood them. There is nothing wrong with that, but God wants your whole self to be involved.

Is there a step you could take this week to begin investigating the Bible?
