He shall see his offspring. Isaiah 53:10
Not only did God’s will prevail in the death of Jesus, God’s will also prevails through the resurrection of Jesus, because through it He will bring many spiritual children into the world.
The word offspring, literally translated, is the word “seed.” Jesus shall see His seed (or His children). Having offspring means that your life is reproduced in another person—something of you is also in them. Jesus was never married, and never had physical children. Isaiah is referring here to the work of the risen Christ—He will have many spiritual offspring.
John said, “To all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1:12-13). When you believe in Jesus, you become a child of God. Something of the life that is in Jesus—something of the life of God Himself—comes into you.
Paul said, “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me” (Gal. 2:20). The great purpose of God for your life is that you will “be conformed to the image of His Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers” (Rom. 8:29).
Paul’s point here is that there is going to be a family likeness. God is committed to reproducing the likeness of the Son He loves, and He does this by infusing the life of Christ into us.
