“You have delivered my life from the pit of destruction, for you have cast all my sins behind your back.” – Isaiah 38:17
Maybe you will say today, “I have not sought God in prayer, and I don’t have a clear conscience. I can’t say that I have walked before God in faithfulness. I have not served Him with my whole heart. I have not done what is good in His sight. So how can I get a clean conscience? How can I seek the face of God in prayer?”
This is the reason why Jesus Christ came into the world. Jesus lived the good and righteous life. He trusted in the Lord, and there was none like Him, either before Him or after Him. He stayed the course and did not depart from following God. The Lord was with Him, and the will of the Lord prospered in His hand.
King Jesus did die, and through His death He made the way for Hezekiah’s sin, and ours, to be forgiven, so that our conscience could be cleansed and our prayers could be heard and answered.
If you will turn to Jesus and submit to Him as your king today, you will be able to say with Hezekiah, “You have delivered my life from the pit of destruction, for you have cast all my sins behind your back” (Isa. 38:17).
Hezekiah was the best of the Old Testament kings. But Jesus is the greater king to whom he points. This king triumphed over death by the power of His resurrection. This king always lives to intercede for us. And when your life on earth is done, this king will welcome you home.
Have you submitted to Jesus as your king? If not, why not ask Him to cast all your sins behind His back and to cleanse your conscience today?
