Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Philippians 1:27 (NIV)

Paul was in prison when he wrote these words to the Philippians. He didn’t know whether he was going to die or live. Listen again to what he says, “Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ” (1:27). This is a man who is free!

This man isn’t worried about what’s going to happen next. He has confidence because his life is in the hands of a Savior who will never let him go and whose purpose can never be defeated. That’s freedom.

Christ died to save you, and He lives to keep you. He intercedes for you at the right hand of the Father. He has purchased you with His own blood, and He will never let you go. There is a confidence that comes to a man or woman who knows this. George Whitefield faced many dangers and threats in his life, and he said, “I am immortal until my life’s work is done.”

The gifts of God in regeneration are awesome, so pursue genuine righteousness, ongoing repentance, deepening love, faith, power, and security. There’s nothing greater in this life than to be born again by the Spirit of God.

Do you have this kind of freedom in the circumstances of life? Do you have this kind of confidence in living the Christian life?
